The biggest international cricket event is the Cricket World Cup, held every four years and first played in 1975 it has become one of the world’s most watched sporting events. However the rise of the short form of the game has seen greater significance placed on the T20 World Cup which was first held in 2007. The traditional form of the game, Test Cricket still plays a significant role in the sport with The Ashes series between Australia and England one of sport’s biggest rivalries.
Domestically, the short form of the game has proved very popular with audiences – the Indian Premier League is the most attended cricket league in the world and one of the most well attended across all sports.
