Sydney Football Stadium (Sydney)

The Sydney Football Stadium (known as the Allianz Stadium for sponsorship reasons) opened on the 28th August 2022 to replace the original Sydney Football Stadium. The stadium is home to the Sydney Roosters of the NRL, New South Wales of Super Rugby and Sydney FC of the A-League.

The former Sydney Football Stadium had a capacity of 45,500 opened in 1988 and lasted just 30 years before being demolished in 2018 to make way for the new stadium, with the government citing safety reasons. The stadium had hosted Rugby League Grand Finals, international Rugby League, Rugby Union and Football including matches at the 2003 Rugby World Cup and 2000 Summer Olympics.

The new stadium has a capacity of 42,500 and will host matches at both the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and 2027 Rugby World Cup.

Sydney Football Stadium Tour

60 minute walking tours of the Sydney Football Stadium cost $25 for Adults and $18 for Children. Tours usually take place at 2pm on Friday’s and Sunday’s but do take place on other day’s, depending on what events are being held at the stadium. The Sydney Football Stadium is located in Moore Park, a suburb approximately 3 kilometres away from Sydney’s CBD.

Airport

Located approximately 5 miles south of Sydney’s city centre, the Airport Link train is the quickest and most convenient way of reaching the city – taking just 13 minutes and running every 10 minutes. Tickets cost $16.

Parking

There are several car parks available within the vicinity of the SCG:

  • Moore Park EP2 and EP3Public parking on event days only ($30 fee per car).
  • Moore Park Golf – Public parking on event days costs $30 fee per car.
  • Entertainment Quarter – Public parking (fees apply).
  • Sydney Boys High School – Public parking for selected events only (fees apply).
  • Sydney Girls High School – Public parking for selected events only (fees apply).

Sydney Light Rail

From Central Railway Station, light rail service L2 and L3 on the Randwick Line leaves via Chalmers Street and takes you to the Moore Park stop which is located on Anzac Parade just south of the stadium.

Services run between Circular Quay and Randwick High Street via Central Chalmers Street regularly on weekdays and weekends, from 5am until 1am.

Walk

It is about a 25-minute walk from Central to Moore Park via Devonshire Street and the Albert ‘Tibby’ Cotter walkway.
