2023 London Marathon

23rd April 2023 – London (England)

London Marathon

The London Marathon is the third of the six annual World Marathon Majors to be held in 2023, with the Boston Marathon being held just a few days before on the 16th April. As well as being an elite marathon, there are also close to 35,000 amateur runners that compete in the Marathon that starts in Greenwich Park, taking in iconic sights such as the Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge, Big Ben and Buckingham Palace before finishing on The Mall. The 2022 race was held in October 2022 due to the knock on effect of the Covid-19 pandemic to maximise the chances of a mass participation event, with Amos Kipruto of Kenya winning the elite men’s race and Yalemzerf Yehualaw of Ethopia winning the women’s event.

Entry

The ballot is notoriously difficulty to gain a place from, being open to the public for just a few days at the end of April/start of May the previous year and over 350,000 entering in 2022. Running for a charity is usually an easier of gaining a place but you are expected to raise a minimum amount of money. Further information can be found at the official website here.
