Northern Ireland’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification Group

Belfast

Northern Ireland haven’t qualified for a World Cup since 1986 and they have a difficult qualifying group to navigate in their bid to make the 2022 FIFA World Cup. In their group of five they have four time World Cup winners Italy, UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers Switzerland and tricky Eastern European counterparts Bulgaria and Lithuania.

Matches will be held in March, September, October and November 2021. The top team in the group will qualify for the World Cup being held in Qatar in November 2022, with the team finishing second entering the play-offs to be held in March 2022.
