National Football Stadium at Windsor Park (Belfast)

Windsor Park (officially known as the National Football Stadium at Windsor Park) is home to the Northern Ireland National Football team, as well as the most successful club side in Northern Irish football, Linfield. The stadium also hosts the annual Irish Cup Final.

Originally opened in 1905, the ground has undergone a number of renovation projects over the years, most recently in 2015. This has led to the stadium having its current capacity of 18,434.

Windsor Park is due to host the 2021 UEFA Super Cup.

Location & Travel to Windsor Park

The stadium is named after Windsor Park, the district in south Belfast in which it is located.

Airport – The closest international airports are Belfast International Airport (20 miles away) and Belfast City Airport (6 miles away), which between them offer a selection of European and domestic flights. Both airports can be reached from Belfast by Airport Expres bus – Route 300 for Belfast International and Route 600 for Belfast City.

Bus –  The Metro 9 bus runs from Belfast city centre to City Hospital, the closest stop to the stadium. From City Hospital, the stadium is approximately a 15 mile walk away along Lisburn Road.

Driving & Parking –  Follow the M1 motorway and exit at Stockman’s Lane (A55). There is no official parking available in the vicinity of Windsor Park. To the south of the ground there are several industrial parks and retail parks, however make sure you check for parking restrictions!

Train – The closest station is at Adelaide Halt, with trains running from Great Victoria Street station on the Bangor-Belfast-Lisburn-Portadown-Newry line. The station is just under a 10 minute walk from Windsor Park.

Walk –  If you are walking from Belfast city centre make your way to Shaftesbury Square/Bradbury Place along Great Victoria Street. From there walk along the Lisburn Road until you reach Lower Windsor Avenue. Turn right down Lower Windsor Avenue and cross the railway footbridge to the stadium. The journey will take approximately 25 minutes.

Windsor Park Stadium Tour & Education and Heritage Centre

The Irish FA run a tour of the National Football Stadium at Windsor Park, which also includes entry into the Education and Heritage Centre. The Centre has a number of displays outlining the history of Northern Irish football from the 1880s to the present day.

Subject to availability and changes, tours and centre admission are currently run from 1pm to 3pm, Monday to Friday 11am-1pm on Weekends. Admission is £8.50 for adults (16+), £6.50 for concessions (Pensioner/Student), £5.50 for Children (5-15) and £25 for a Family (2 Adults & 2 Children).
