Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, Gros Islet (St. Lucia)

Originally known as the Beausejour Cricket Ground since its inception in 2002, the ground was renamed the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground after the West Indies’ captain won the 2016 ICC World Twenty20.

Home to the Windward Islands and St Lucia Zouks, the ground has hosted all formats of the international game. This includes 6 group matches and a Semi Final at the 2007 Cricket World Cup, as well 10 matches for the 2010 ICC World Twenty20.

Tenants: Windward Islands (Regional Four Day Competition) & St Lucia Zouks (Caribbean Premier League)

Opened: 2002

Capacity: 15,000

Address: Beausejour Road, Gros Islet

Location & Travel to Daren Sammy Cricket Ground

The Daren Sammy Cricket Ground is located in Rodney Bay, nearby to the tourist destination of Gros Islet in the North West of St. Lucia. I would recommend staying in this area rather than the capital of Castries, which is about 10km away.

Airport: There are two airports in St. Lucia but only the Hewanorra International Airport in the south of the island handles long-haul flights from the UK, North America and Europe. The George FL Charles Airport, near the capital of Castries, handles most regional Caribbean flights.

Taxi: Taxi’s can be found at Rodney Bar Marina and the malls around Rodney Bay. From the Marina, the ground is a short 5 minute drive. Always confirm prices ahead of travelling.

Walk: The cricket ground is located inland and is approximately a 30 minute walk from Rodney Bay Marina via Bella Rosa Road.

  1. Hi there I will be in St Lucia from jan 25 th 2022 to feb 8th 2022, what’s
the chance of seeing a T20 game versus England ?

    1. Hi Graham, its difficult to say at this stage as the venues for England’s 2022 tour of the West Indies haven’t been confirmed yet. England did play a single T20 in St Lucia when they last toured in 2019 but that was the last time the ground hosted an international match, with the West Indies playing their most recent matches in Antigua. Fingers crossed for you though and do keep checking Sports Tourist for updates.
