Sharjah Cricket Stadium (Sharjah)

The Sharjah Cricket Stadium opened in 1982 and for many years was the prominent cricket ground in the United Arab Emirates. Hosting its first international cricket in 1984 with an Asia Cup ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, the ground hosted 198 ODIs and four Tests between 1984 and 2003.

However following match fixing allegations, no international cricket was played in the stadium between 2003 and 2010. However the associate members began to return, with the Afghanistan cricket team calling the stadium home from 2010 until 2016.

Pakistan also began to regularly use the Sharjah Cricket Stadium following security issues in their country. The ground has gone on to hold a world record number of One Day Internationals, with over 240 matches played there as of December 2019.

The first part of the 2014 Indian Premier League was played in the UAE due to the tournament clashing with the Indian General Election. The stadium held six matches and is due to host a number of matches at the 2020 IPL, with the tournament returning due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The annual T10 League was held at the stadium in 2017 and 2018 before moving to the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium.
