Perth Stadium (currently known as Optus Stadium) was opened in early 2018 as a multi-purpose venue, primarily focusing on cricket and AFL. With a capacity of 60,000 the stadium is the third largest in Australia and is now the home of local AFL sides the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Football Club, as well as the BBL cricket side the Perth Scorchers.
The Australia international cricket team has already played several matches at the venue, with the first major event at the stadium being an ODI between Australia and England in January 2018.
The stadium has also hosted soccer (football) with a friendly between Chelsea and Perth Glory, the 2019 A-League Grand Final and two Manchester United pre-season friendlies in 2019. Several Rugby League matches have been played at Perth Stadium including the second match of the 2019 State of Origin, with Rugby Union also played there for the first time in August 2019 with the Bledisloe Cup match between Australia and New Zealand.
