2021 Italian Open
The 2021 Italian Open (currently known as the Internazionali BNL d’Italia for sponsorship reasons) is a professional tennis tournament that is a ATP Masters 1000 event on the men’s tour and a Premier 5 event on the women’s tour. First played in 1930, it is considered one of the most important clay court tournaments.
Rafael Nadal has won the most number of men’s single titles with nine, whilst Chris Evert won a record five women’s singles titles.

The 2021 tournament will take place between the 9th and 16th May, with qualifying beginning on the 3rd May.
Where is the 2021 Italian Open?
Originally the tournament was held in Milan from 1930 and 1934, however it now has a long history with the Foro Italico in Rome, first being held in the sports complex in 1935 and albeit with a a couple of exceptions has been played there ever since.
The complex has 15 clay courts— the Centre Court (Stadio del tennis di Roma) with a capacity of 10,500, the Grand Stand Arena with a capacity of 5,000, the Nicola Pietrangeli Stadium which holds 3,720, and 12 secondary courts which hold about 6,000 spectators in total.

How do I get there?
The Foro Italico is located in the North of the Italian capital city of Rome, approximately 6 kilometres away from the centre.
Air – Rome has two major airports: Leonardo da Vinci Airport – Fiumicino which is 40 km from the Stadio Olimpico, whilst Rome Ciampino Airport is 35km away.
From Leonardo da Vinci Airport, you will need to take a train to Termini central station, Tiburtina or Ostiense and then change to the subway as below. For Ciampino Airport, you will need to catch a bus to Termini station for the subway.

Bus – Bus number 280 goes directly to the complex, whilst bus 32 goes to Piazzale della Farnesina, just a few metres away. A number of bus services also stop at Piazza Mancini, on the opposite side of the Tevere River to the complex.
Car Parking – The closest car park is at Piazzale del Foro Italico, near the Stadio Olimpico and the Stadio dei Marmi with alternatives found at Piazza Mancini, Piazzale Maresciallo Giardino, or Piazzale Clodio.
Metro – The nearest metro stop is at Ottaviano (Red Line – Line A) which is about a 25 minute walk to the complex, or alternatively you can catch bus 32 from outside the station.
Alternatively you can stop at Flaminio (Red Line – Line A), then take the tram and get off at the last stop in Piazza Mancini, or you can stop at Lepanto (Red Line – Line A) and use bus number 280.
Train – Termini Central Station is located 6km away from Foro Italico, take the metro (Red Line – Line A) towards Battistini as above. During the tournament there is a shuttle service from Termini Station at Piazza dei Cinquecento for those that have travelled on a Trenitalia service.
From Tiburtina or Ostiense station, take the metro (Blue Line – Line B) towards Termini and change for Line A.

How do I get tickets to the 2021 Italian Open?
Tickets usually go on sale in October the year prior to the tournament. Ticket prices in 2021 started at €33 for Centre Court tickets and €4 for Ground Passes. The latest ticket information is available on the official website here.
