2027 will feature some of the world’s biggest sports events including the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia, 24 years after it last hosted – most fondly remembered by England fans for Jonny Wilkinson’s drop goal in extra time against the Wallabies as England became the first northern hemisphere team to win the Webb Ellis Cup. Also 24 years since they hosted the 2003 Cricket World Cup, South Africa and Zimbabwe will co-host the 2027 Cricket World Cup along with neighbours Namibia. The 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup will also take place (hosts to be confirmed) and the 2027 Ryder Cup will see the action return to Ireland for the first time since 2006, as the Adare Manor in County Limerick hosts.
