Al Janoub Stadium (Al Wakrah)

The Al Janoub Stadium is a new football stadium, opened on the 16th May 2019 ahead of hosting 7 matches at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, including a Round of 16 fixture.

The stadium, with a roof shaped like a traditional Dhow boat is now the home venue of Al-Wakrah SC, competing in the Qatar Stars League. The venue will have a capacity of 40,000 for the World Cup, however this will be reduced to 20,000 after the tournament with the remaining seats donated to developing countries.

The stadium’s inaugural match on the 16th May 2019 was the Amir Cup Final, with Al-Duhail defeating Al Sadd 4-1.
