England play their first away match of their 2022 FIFA World Cup group against Albania. England last played away at Albania in March 2001 in a 2002 FIFA World Cup qualifier, winning 3-1 at the old Qemal Stafa Stadium in Tirana thanks to goals from Michael Owen, Paul Scholes and Andy Cole.

Tirana International Airport Nënë Tereza is the main airport of Albania, located about 11 kilometres northwest of Tirana. It has a number of routes across Europe, such as Istanbul, London, Milan and Rome. There is a bus that runs from the airport to central Tirana every hour, with a journey time of about 30 minutes.
