The 108th edition of the Tour de France was due to visit Denmark for the first time, with the Grand Départ set to take place in the Danish capital of Copenhagen. However this was pushed back to 2022 due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the city due to host matches at the postponed UEFA Euro 2020.
The 2021 Grand Départ will now be taking in the western port of Brest, hosting the start of the Tour for the fourth time, following 1952, 1974 and 2008. The dates of the 2021 Tour were brought forward by a week to avoid clashing with the postponed 2020 Olympics and will now take place from the 26th June to 18th July 2021.
