Originally opened in 1881, the Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club has hosted the Eastbourne International tennis tournament since 1974. Originally a women’s event, Martina Navratilova was an 11 time champion with other past winners including top players such as Chris Evert, Lindsay Davenport, Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin.
Since Eastbourne became part of the men’s ATP tour in 2009, winners have included Novak Djokovic, Feliciano López and Andy Roddick.
The club also hosted the 1977 Federation Cup which was won by the United States after defeating Australia 2-1 in the Final. Great Britain have also played several Davis Cup matches at the venue, most recently in 2006 as a young Andy Murray was part of a team that lost 3-2 to Israel.

Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club is located about half a mile west of the centre of Easbourne, a town in the county of East Sussex on the south coast of England.
Airport: Gatwick Airport is the closest airport to Eastbourne, about 40 miles to the north. The airport is the second busiest in the UK and offers a number of flights across Europe and the world. There are direct trains between the airport and Eastbourne, with a journey time of about 55 minutes.

Bus: During the tournament, there is a shuttle bus that runs between Birley Centre, Saffrons Car Park, the Railway Station, Junction Road and Trinity Place costing £1.50 per journey.
Driving: Eastbourne is accessible via the A22 from London, A259 from Hastings and A27 from Brighton. There are public car parks available at the JCP Junction Road car park and the NCP car park at Trinity Place. Saffrons Car Park has a £6 charge per car, per day. A shuttle bus (as above) runs during the tournament between the car parks and the tennis club.
Train: Eastbourne railway station has two services per hour that run to London Victoria (90 minutes journey) and Brighton (40 minute journey). The station is less than a mile away from the tennis club, which is about a 10-15 minute walk or catch the shuttle bus as above.
