Bethpage State Park Golf Course (Farmingdale, New York)

The Bethpage State Park Golf Course features five 18 hole public golf courses in the Bethpage State Park. Each course is named after a colour, in increasing difficulty – Yellow, Green, Blue, Red and Black.

The Green Course was the original, beginning in 1924 as a private course of the Lenox Hills Country Club. However, the Bethpage Park Authority purchased the club and adjacent properties in the early 1930s to develop what is now the Bethpage State Park. Three new golf courses (Black, Red and Blue) were added in 1936, with Yellow later opened in 1958 due to an increase in demand.

The famed Black Course became the first publicly owned and operated course to host the U.S. Open. in 2002, won by Tiger Woods, with the tournament returning in 2009. The Barclays PGA Tour events were held there in 2012 and 2016, with the PGA Championship played at Bethpage in 2019 – won by Brooks Koepka.

Bethpage will host the 2025 Ryder Cup.
