Estadio de la Cerámica (Villarreal)

Estadio de la Cerámica has been the home of football club Villarreal CF since it opened in 1923. Until 2017, it was known as Estadio El Madrigal before renamed as the ‘Ceramics Stadium’ in recognition of the local industry.

The stadium opened on the 17th June 1923 with a match between CD Castellon and El Cervantes and originally known as Campo del Villarreal until 1925. The stadium has undergone a number of renovations across the years, most recently in 2016 and currently has a capacity of 23,500.

The Spain national team have played several international matches in the stadium, the first being a friendly with Chile in November 2008 as they won 3-0.

Tickets for Villarreal matches are available to purchase through the official website here, at the official store at the stadium (Tuesday to Friday 10am-6pm and Saturdays 10am-2pm), at the ticket office (open on match days 90 minutes before kick off) or at the club’s shop on Plaça Major in the city (Monday to Saturday 10am-1:45pm and 5pm-8:30pm).

Estadio de la Cerámica is located approximately half a kilometre north of central Villarreal in the east of Spain.

Airport – The closest airport is the small Castellón Airport, approximately 38 kilometres away which offers flights to a limited number of European destinations. The larger Valencia Airport is slightly further away (68 kilometres) but offers a much greater selection of flights.

Train – Vila-real station mainly has regional services, with infrequent trains to Valencia taking just over an hour. Walking from the station to the stadium will take about 20 minutes.
