Hayward Field is a track and field stadium on the campus of the University of Oregon, being the home of their track and field team since 1921. The stadium is named after coach, Bill Hayward who ran the Ducks; track program from 1904 to 1947.
The stadium has become one of the most famous track and field venues in the world, being the centerpiece of ‘Track Town, USA’ and attracting top class athletes and coaches from across the world. The facility enjoys close ties with Nike – co-founder Bill Bowerman was a track coach at the University and met fellow co-founder Phil Knight when he was a student and joined the Track program.

Hayward Field has hosted major Athletics championships including the USATF championships (1986, 1993, 1999, 2001, 2009, 2011, 2015), the Olympic trials (1972, 1976, 1980, 2008, 2012, 2016), as well as numerous NCAA championships, USATF Elite Running Circuit events, and the annual Nike Prefontaine Classic (a Diamond League event). The World Junior Championships were also held there in 2014.
In 2018 it was announced that Hayward Field would undergo complete renovation with Phil Knight being the major donor. The capacity of the stadium will increase to 12,900, being expandable to 30,000 and featuring a landmark tower. The new stadium opened in Spring 2020 ahead of hosting the delayed 2021 Olympic trials and 2022 World Athletics Championships.

Driving
Driving directions from Eugene Airport – Follow Highway 99 until it becomes West Seventh Avenue. Get in the right lane and follow West Seventh Avenue until it becomes Franklin Boulevard. Get in the right lane and follow Franklin Boulevard to Agate Street. Turn right onto Agate and right again onto East Thirteenth Avenue.
Driving directions from Portland and the North – From I-5 South, take Exit 194B onto I-105 West. Take Exit 2, keep left and follow the signs to the UO. Proceed in the left lane over the Ferry Street Bridge, exiting onto Broadway, which becomes Franklin Boulevard. Follow Franklin Boulevard to Agate Street. Turn right onto Agate and right again onto East Thirteenth Avenue.
Driving directions from Ashland and the South – From I-5 North, take Exit 192 for OR-99/Franklin Boulevard toward Eugene. Continue under the I-5 bridge and merge onto Franklin Boulevard OR-99/126.
Driving directions from the Oregon Coast – Take Highway 126 East until it becomes West Eleventh Avenue. Follow West Eleventh Avenue to Garfield Street and turn left. Take Garfield to West Seventh Avenue and turn right. Get in the right lane and follow West Seventh Avenue until it becomes Franklin Boulevard. Get in the right lane and follow Franklin Boulevard to Agate Street. Turn right onto Agate and right again onto East Thirteenth Avenue.
Driving directions from Bend and the East – Take Highway 126 West through Springfield which becomes I-105 in Eugene after you cross over I-5. Take Exit 2, the Coburg Road exit ramp; keep left at the fork in the ramp. Go straight onto southbound Coburg Road, which becomes the Ferry Street Bridge. Stay in the left lane on the bridge, exiting onto Broadway, which becomes Franklin Boulevard. Follow Franklin Boulevard to Agate Street. Turn right onto Agate and right again onto East Thirteenth Avenue.
Parking
Parking is available next to Hayward Field on 18th ave. and University St. with metered restrictions in effect Monday to Saturday between 8am and 6pm.

Could somebody please tell me why the existing world record times are not displayed during the sporting events to add to the excitement ? Looking back on previous competitions they where always displayed in the corner of the screen.
Great games but it would be better if we knew what the athletes where aiming for.
