Diamond League

The Diamond League is a series of elite track and field/athletic competitions held across the world, with athletes earning points at qualification meets to qualify for the final of their discipline.

Athletes are awarded 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 or 1 points for finishing 1st to 8th, with each discipline held six times.

There are 24 ‘Diamond disciplines’ currently included, with several other disciplines (200 Metres, 3000 Metre Steeplechase, Triple Jump and Discus Throw) held as one off disciplines at some events:

  • 400 Metres (Men & Women)
  • 800 Metres (Men & Women)
  • 1500 Metres (Men & Women)
  • 3000 Metres (Men & Women)
  • 110 Metre Hurdles (Men)
  • 100 Metre Hurdles (Women)
  • 400 Metre Hurdles (Men & Women)
  • High Jump (Men & Women)
  • Pole Vault (Men & Women)
  • Long Jump (Men & Women)
  • Shot Put (Men & Women)
  • Javelin Throw (Men & Women)

Where and When is the Diamond League held?

The Diamond League is usually held from April/May to late August/early September, currently across 14 legs with 1 final leg.

The 2020 Diamond League was held from the 17th April to 11th September 2020 at the legs below.

17th April 2020 – Doha Diamond League (Suheim bin Hamad Stadium, Doha, Qatar)

9th May 2020 – TBD (China)

16th May 2020 – Diamond League Shanghai (Shanghai Stadium, Shanghai, China)

24th May 2020 – BAUHAUS-galan (Stockholm Olympic Stadium, Stockholm, Sweden)

28th May 2020 – Golden Gala (Stadio San Paolo, Naples, Italy)

31st May 2020 – Meeting International Mohammed VI d’Athlétisme de Rabat (Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Rabat, Morocco)

7th June 2020 – Prefontaine Classic (Hayward Field, Eugene, United States)

11th June 2020 – Bislett Games (Bislett Stadium, Oslo, Norway)

13th June 2020 РMeeting de Paris (Stade S̩bastien Charl̩ty, Paris, France)

4th July 2020 – London Grand Prix/Anniversary Games (London Stadium, London, United Kingdom)

10th July 2020 – Herculis (Stade Louis II, Monaco)

16th August 2020 – British Grand Prix (Gateshead International Stadium, Gateshead, United Kingdom)

20th August 2020 – Athletissima (Stade Olympique de la Pontaise, Lausanne, Switzerland)

4th September 2020 – Memorial Van Damme (King Baudouin Stadium, Brussels, Belgium)

11th September 2020 (FINAL) – Weltklasse Zürich (Letzigrund, Zürich, Switzerland)
