2019 Presidents Cup

The Presidents Cup is a men’s team golf competition between the USA and an international team (excluding Europe), first held in 1994. The current champions are the USA, having won the 2017 Presidents Cup 19-11 at Liberty National Golf Club in New Jersey, USA.


How does it work?

The format is similar to that of the Ryder Cup, with ties taking place between a team of 12 golfers from the USA and 12 from the international team. On the Thursday there are 5 foursomes, Friday there are 5 fourballs then on Saturday, there are 4 fourballs matches in the morning and 4 foursomes matches in the afternoon. On the Sunday, there are 12 singles matches with all of the players taking part. Each match is played for one point, with the winner of the Presidents Cup being the team which scores most points.


When is it?

The Presidents Cup takes place every 2 years, with the 2019 edition from the 9th – 15th December 2019.


Where is it?

The event takes place at alternating courses between the USA and an international course (except from Europe). The 2019 Ryder Cup will be taking place at the Royal Melbourne Club in Melbourne, Australia for the third time.

Future events are to take place at:

2021 (USA) – Quail Hollow Club, Charlotte, North Carolina

2023 (International) – TBD

2025 (USA) – TPC Harding Park, San Francisco, California


How do I get there?

The Royal Melbourne Golf Club as the name suggests is located in the Australian city of Melbourne. The golf club is located approximately 20km south of Melbourne’s CBD.

Air: Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine Airport) is the second busiest airport in Australia, with international and domestic connections to many of the world and Australia’s destinations.

The airport sits approximately 25km north of Melbourne CBD, with Skybus being the most convenient option of getting to the CBD. The shuttle buses run 24 hours a day one way tickets starting from $18.

Public Transport: Organisers have yet to publish transport information for getting to the club, however they have confirmed a shuttle bus will be available from local public transport to the course.


How do I get tickets?

Tickets are now on sale for the 2019 Presidents Cup with General Admission tickets starting at $50 AUD, with hospitality starting at $165 AUD.
