Southern Hills Country Club (Tulsa, Oklahoma)

The Southern Hills Country Club was established in 1935 on land donated by oilman Waite Phillips during the Great Depression. 150 pledges of $1,000 were made in two weeks to become members of the club and finance the construction of the club.

The original Championship Course was designed by Perry Maxwell and was recently upgraded in 2018. The club also features the West Nine course which was added in 1992, as well as a fitness centre, tennis courts and swimming facilities.

The Championship Course has hosted the U.S. Open three times (1958, 1977, 2001) and became the first course to host the PGA Championship four times (1970, 1982, 1994, 2007). The club will host the 2022 PGA Championship, a record fifth time it has hosted the event.
