Plainmoor

Plainmoor has been the home of Torquay United Football Club since it opened in 1921. The stadium has a current capacity of 6,500 after its most recent renovation in 2012.

A record crowd of 21,908 watched the FA Cup 4th Round defeat to Huddersfield Town in 1955. Truro City played their home matches at Plainmoor in the first half of the 2018-19 season, with the teams playing each other in January with a crowd of 2,812 made up of 2,760 ‘away’ Torquay fans.

Tickets for Torquay United matches are available to purchase online, by phone (01803 328666) or the ticket office at the stadium open on match days. For the 2020-2021 season, ticket prices ranged from:

  • Adults – £15 – £17 (Advance), £16 – £18 (Matchday)
  • Concessions – £13 – £15 (Advance), £14 – £16 (Matchday)
  • Under-18 – £9 (Advance), £10 (Matchday)
  • Under-7 – Free (Advance), £1 (Matchday)

Plainmoor is located in the suburb of St. Marychurch, approximately 1.5 miles from Torquay town centre.

Airport: The closest airport to Torquay is Exeter Airport, approximately 25 miles away which offers a number of flights across Europe. Driving will take about 45 minutes or you can use public transport by connecting through Exeter. Other airports within a 2 hour drive of Torquay include Bristol Airport and Newquay Airport.

Bus:  Bus routes 31 and 35A run from Torquay town centre and stop about a 10 minute walk from the stadium.

Coach: Megabus offers cheap travel to Torquay and offers routes from London and Plymouth. You can search and book your tickets here.

Driving & Parking: Use the South Devon Expressway (A380), exit onto Riviera Way (A3022) and follow signposts for the stadium. There is no car parking on site, however there is plenty of on street parking in the local area – just watch out for any restrictions in place.

Train: Torquay railway station is the town’s main rail station, with a regional service between between Exmouth and Paignton and long distance services to London Paddington, Manchester Piccadilly via Birmingham New Street and Newcastle via Leeds. The station is just over a mile and half from the stadium, which is about a 45 minute walk.

The closest station is Torre railway station, just over a mile away with a walking time of about 25 minutes. The station also sits on the regional line between Exmouth and Paignton and does have some longer distance services from London Paddington.
