The PGA Championship is the second of the four major championships held each year in professional golf. First held in 1916, the event is hosted by the Professional Golfers’ Association of America and is the only one of the majors exclusively for professional players. Jack Nicklaus and Walter Hagen are the most successful players at the PGA Championship, having both won the event five times.
The PGA Championship takes place every year and as of 2019, will be played in May over the weekend before the US holiday of Memorial Day (held on the last Monday in May). The 2023 PGA Championship will be held between the 18th and 21st May 2023.
The event is held at a different course in the US each year, primarily on the east coast. The 2023 PGA Championship will be played at the Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York. This will be the fourth time the club has hosted the PGA Championship, having previously hosted the event in 1980, 2003 and 2013 (see below).
