When is the IAAF World Athletics Championships?
The IAAF World Athletics Championships takes place every two years, usually held in August or September.
The 2019 event will be held between the 27th September and 6th October.
Where is the IAAF World Athletics Championships?
The IAAF World Athletics Championships are held in a different host city for each championship, with the events focusing on one venue. The 2019 Championships are to be held at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha in Qatar.
Future events confirmed are:
6-15 August 2021 – Hayward Field (Eugene, USA)
26 August-3 September 2023 – National Athletics Centre (Budapest, Hungary)
How do I get there?
The Khalifa International Stadium is located in the Doha Sports City in the Al-Waab district of Doha, approximately 8km from Doha’s CBD.
Airport – The Hamad International Airport is ranked as one of the best in the world and is an important hub in the region, with Qatar Airways in particular offering flights to a number of international destinations.
Bus – Lines 31, 32 and 137 all run from Doha CBD to the Khalifa International Stadium
Taxi – The most convenient option is to catch a taxi to the Khalifa International Stadium, just ensure the driver turns the metre on!
